Way-hey! I imported the Blue Underground release last year but I'll go for a steelbook! Artwork on Cult Labs looks decent enough. I suspect it may look better in the flesh as well.

Release date is 26th November:

SPECIAL FEATURES:
- Brand new high definition restoration

- Presented on both High Definition Blu-ray and Standard Definition DVD

- Optional English SDH subtitles on the feature

- Audio commentary with screenwriter Elisa Briganti moderated by Calum Waddell

- Audio commentary with Fulci biographer Stephen Thrower and horror expert Alan Jones

- UK exclusive introduction to the film from Ian McCulloch

- ALIENS, CANNIBALS AND ZOMBIES: A TRILOGY OF ITALIAN TERROR: Actor Ian McCulloch remembers his three classics of Latin horror lunacy - ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS, CONTAMINATION and ZOMBI HOLOCAUST

- FROM ROMERO TO ROME: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ITALIAN ZOMBIE FILM: Veteran Fulci screenwriters Dardano Sacchetti (THE BEYOND) and Antonio Tentori (CAT IN THE BRAIN), celebrated UK critic Kim Newman and filmmakers Luigi Cozzi (CONTAMINATION), Ruggero Deodato (CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST), Russ Streiner (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD) plus many more share memories of the genesis of corpse-crunching cinema - from Romero's early templates to the gory glory days of Fulci and his many successors.

- THE MEAT MUNCHING MOVIES OF GINO ROSSI: The special effects magician behind many Italian splatter classics talks about his most famous gore-drenched greats - and shows props from many plasma-packed masterworks - including ZOMBIE FLESH-EATERS, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY, CANNIBAL FEROX, BURIAL GROUND and PIRANHA II.

- ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS - FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN: Dardano Sacchetti shows key pages from his original ISLAND OF THE LIVING DEAD screenplay.

- Trailer and radio spots

- Collector’s booklet featuring contributions from Calum Waddell, Stephen Thrower, Craig Lapper and Jay Slater.

- Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys

- More to be announced closer to the time!

Not sure on that Artwork.

This was a very popular title in my Godfathers Video shops in the 80.

Always remembered taking a sneak look at the case on this as.

The hand coming out of the ground in the cemetery. Classic

I'd rather they had used the original Vipco "banned" artwork instead. That current artwork looks a little cheap and tacky. Let's hope they don't foul-it-up like they've done pretty much on every Blu-Ray release for the past year.

I'm tempted, even though I already have the Blue Underground double-disc Blu-Ray release, but Arrow's track record with decent releases, is truly appalling. And I'm not paying more than £15 for a Steelbook, unless it's the best release it can be. (Which, when you see what Blue Underground's release looks like, is going to be tough for Arrow to do.)

Oh yes, I was only praising the artwork, I'm sure they will foul up the disc in some way

It's okay, at best. Here's what they could have chosen from:

Original Vipco "Banned" VHS Artwork

Italian "Zombi 2" Artwork

Italian "Zombi" Artwork

Original UK Quad "Variant" Poster Image

US Blue Underground Cover Artwork

Now, do you still think that Arrow's artwork is nice?!

Hi,

Artwork choices, aside, I really hope that Arrow don't foul this up. Any errors or problems, no matter how trivial or insignificant, is going to be the final nail in their coffin! They simply won't get another chance to convince fans to pay for their products, no matter how good any future releases might be.

The fans, of which I am one, have given Arrow lots of chances to correct things, and they still screw every release up, and I genuinely think that the fans have had enough. With their three TROMA releases due out on Monday, the LADY SNOWBLOOD Steelbook out in the Autumn, and now ZOMBIE FLESH-EATERS out at the end of the year, Arrow need every sale they can get their hands on.

Another screw-up, and I think, it'll be game over for them.

Why was the original artwork banned Seems a bit extreme.

Classic, imo and a shame it's not being used.

The artwork wasn't, but the film was, in the 1983/84 UK Video Nasty Scandal.

Vipco were a famous (now defunct) film releasing company, who released many video nasties, and played up to this fact by usually released more than one version of a film.

In the case of ZOMBIE FLESH-EATERS, there were two VHS versions:
- a heavily-cut version, and
- a "Strong Uncut Version", that contained all of the gore.

The "Strong Uncut Version" came out first, I believe, but then the Video Nasty scandal hit, and that release was then replaced with the heavily-cut version.

The artwork is famous all over the world, and even though it only depicts a hand coming out of a grave, it became iconic. Hope that clarifies things for you.

Some great artwork there!

I like the new Arrow art but would loved to have seen one of those designs on there.

Still, I'm going to be dropping my man at Arrow an email sharpish for a copy of this one!

Anyone know if this is going to be the same restoration as the Underground version earlier in the year?

My suspicions would say "Yes" it probably will be, especially as Arrow don't do their own restorations, but simply use whatever prints they can get their sticky little paws on at the time, for a cheap-enough price.

As such, I'd only really be getting this for the extras, but as I've said before, Arrow's track record with decent releases of cult films is atrocious, so they're going to have to really pull one hell of an amazing rabbit out of their hat, in order to get me to buy any of their future products.

The pessimist in me screams out that they'll probably find someway to screw this Steelbook release-up, as they've done with almost every single release they've made over the past year. As such, I'm not buying this release, until the reviews start coming-out. The Blue Underground ZOMBIE Blu-Ray release is already pretty-much perfect, as it is.

Cheers snoo that's a bargain price.
I've also ordered the limited slipbox edition too though from arrow directly as its limited to just 500 copies. Hopfully they won't do it with others and this completes that collection.

Well they're building up. Some people mocked the system at the start, but with the amount of Steelbooks being released, I'll probably have a free one by the end of the year. You can't complain about that.

A fair point. I've made no extra orders because of the points but have plenty of points awarded or pending. Orders have all been steelbooks because of the shipping speed and packaging and only then when they've price-matched Amazon/HMV. Will quite happily receive a free item at some point for placing orders that would have gone to Play anyway.

I really like the artwork for this one. I haven't seen the film though and it doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but the artwork is unique and since Play.com have it £14, I was considering grabbing it.

The film is superb. A great and gory zombie-gut-muncher! The artwork, however, looks like a six-year-old was given some crayons to do it with!

I am interested to see what the reviews are like once this gets released, as due to previous Arrow screw-ups, I haven't pre-ordered this title, and am not prepared to pay them my hard-earned, unless they do an A1 job with it.
