BD-35 Does not play Gran Torino!

I have a Panasonic BD-35 which I have upgraded to firmware 1.5

However, I have received 2 copies of Gran Torino on Bluray from lovefilm (both with that strange plastic protective layer) and both copies have spun for 15 seconds and all that's happened is a few clicks and then an error message.

Anyone else experience this problem or have an idea what it may be?

yes thanks but there's not much to clean seeing as its got this strange protective film on the back of the disc.

Sending it back and getting the DVD instead.

Just take the cover off and put it back when you're done if you like. Lovefilm's yellow sticker to the contrary is wrong.

It is the protective cover. Take it off. Any discs with it will not work in any player (tried it with Sammy 1500, Panny BD35, Sony S350 and PS3) all failed. Luckily the cover comes off and is easily put on again.

I had a problem loading Grand Torino. "Player cannot operate this disc" or something similar. It loaded eventually but had freezing/skipping problems at around 1hr 26mins.

Re: BD-35 Does not play Gran Torino!

we've had the Bluray Gran Torino from Blockbuster and although it played without skipping etc., the volume was very low. not had this with any other blu-ray or dvd so maybe there's something odd about the way it's been mastered/pressed.

Nothing wrong with the discs. It is just a piece of plastic that is stopping the laser from focussing properly. They are usually used for CD's so probably work best with red instead of violet lasers.

Star Trek Season 1 is also very low volume too.

I had to turn volume up to extreme levels also.
