Forrest Gump & Braveheart Blu-Ray Releases....
Following on from the Gladiator Sapphire Edition Region A release both Forrest Gump & Braveheart will also be shortly following in this series of releases...
Am sure they will both be eagerly anticipated Blu-Ray releases and hopefully with equally feature rich extras as the forthcoming Gladiator outing!
Braveheart - Sept (R-A) DD True HD 5.1
Forrest Gump - Nov (R-A) TBA

I'm taking a bit of a risk as no confirmation yet, however I believe it will be a first for Paramount if they are region coded, and highly unlikely anyway especially with these being catalogue titles

Re: Forrest Gump & Braveheart Blu-Ray Releases....
Both Braveheart and Gladiator are in stock at DVDWorldUSA. They state multi region in the description for both titles, is this confirmed by them?
I'm stuck in 2 minds about going for the US release of Gladiator and not bothering with the UK steelbook version

Sold a few blu's that are just gathering dust and will watch the 2 I bought many times over I'm sure, so don't mind paying.

Re: Forrest Gump & Braveheart Blu-Ray Releases....
I've taken the chance that Braveheart is region free and ordered up from Movietyme.
It's been one of my main wants since Blu was invented
My special edition sits unplayed since I only watch movies on a PJ and it looks like crap
I can only hope they did a great job on the transfer. I know it will be better but I'm hoping it got the 5 star treatment.
Picture it in your minds eye, pristine and popping, well I can hope right.

Is there any word on the packaging of the 'Sapphire series' yet? Are they in normal Blu-ray cases with cardboard slipcases or something less conventional?

Interesting to note that libalex describes both of these as Australian imports. I thought they only sold Region A stuff.

I think I'll stick with the UK release of Gladiator. Not bothered about the other two.

It would seem so, from the pictures.

So the US release would be a safer bet?

Re: Forrest Gump & Braveheart Blu-Ray Releases....
Unless they've waived the cut for the UK version. It's more of an alternate angle to the throat cutting scene, which the BBFC made Gibson change. That's the only cut I'm aware of, it's minor, but a cut is a cut IMO.
From DVDCompare:
R2 United Kingdom- Fox - Yes, this is the same as the original UK theatrical version of the film which had one altered scene:
1. The cut of the magistrate's throat being slit is cut on R2 via a reframing of the shot done by Gibson at the behest of The BBFC. On R1 the shot is seen full on whilst on R2 it is obscured by camera technique/reframing.
It is therefore DIFFERENT to the US version of the film. For more information, go to www.imdb.com

Re: Forrest Gump & Braveheart Blu-Ray Releases....
The throat cut is definitely more gratuitous, for want of a better word, on the region 1 dvd. Loses it's impact in region 2 land.
I'd be surprised if the BBFC changed it's stance on this scene.
Although i'd be glad to be proven wrong.

Do you think the Region A release on BD would not have this cut?
