DVD Disc sound playback low

Hi all, im having a problem after i record programs from my sky+ planner onto DVD Discs. I understand it's a common problem - after the recordings, the discs playback fine, but with the sound quite low, so that i have to turn the TV up much louder just to get a reasonable sound level to hear.

In laymens terms, how would i go about fixing this issue? I know it can be done, as i have played the same DVD's, brand type and all, from others and this isn't a problem, so i believe it's an issue when im recording.

I have a toshiba TV if it matters, and a LG dvd/recorder + player, which i use to record the discs.

I am pretty clueless as to what to do, so any suggestions are welcomed, i don't know what settings i would change.
