LG rh266 problem

Hi All, Im new here, this is my 1st post. I have here a LG RH266 HDD/DVD recorder, its been ok but now when I switch it on the "hello" message that come on the screen is now scrolling across the screen and nothing is being displayed on the TV, I have to leave it switched on for a good 20 mins then switch it on and off a few time and then it comes to life. I think the problem maybe corrupt data on the hard drive, does anyone know a fix for this

Thanks

That's more likely to be caused by duff electrolytic capacitors in the DVDRs power supply and is not a d-i-y fix unless you're experienced at soldering and handling electronic components.

Thanks for the info, I did find 2 swelling capacitors on the power supply PCB, I did lucky enough have 3 new ones here, Ive changed the capacitors now there is another problem, the machine now starts up, when I switch on the LG comes up on the TV but the digital display on the front pannel, is not readable, its not balnk its just the segments of the digits are not making a word or number and it will not take a command from the remote control, If I press the play button on the front of the unit it will play the 1st recording on the hard drive and thats as far as I can get, I think when it was playing up before my missis pressed all 3 buttons on the front at the same time, I think that may have damaged the software in one of the IC's, so Its here in bits at the mo and I dont really know what to look for now, any idea's ?

Thanks
