Sony RDR HXD860 Timer record problem

Has anyone come across this before - about once a week (just when you need it to work) after selecting a program to record the timer cancels itself, no matter what channel etc any timer recording attempted will go through the motions and cancel itself at the end.
The only way I've found to get around it is to unplug the power to the unit then plug it back in again, just switching on/off has no effect.
Manual recording will work - just a problem with the timer recording.

Re: Sony RDR HXD860 Timer record problem

Is this on HDD or DVD recordings ?
If on DVD look to see if you have enough room to record the program on the disc ?
Is anyone is the room when this stops recording ?
Remove the batteries from remote to see if it's sending out info on its own ?
Try disconnecting all leads except mains and the aerial to see if any other device is talking to the recorder .
Hope this helps ?

Should have said HDD recording.
Use the remote to program via GUI on screen.

Check that your clock time and date is staying accurate and updated.

It may be going awry , then resetting after you disconnect.

Re: Sony RDR HXD860 Timer record problem

I've had a similar problem - the HDD is only recording 30 mins or so of any timer settings. Fine for short progs, but I missed half of Ashes to Ashes as a result. Only started happening in the last week or so. Big problem on an otherwise great machine. Any help gratefully received.
