Which HDD DVD recorder lets me store AVCH Files???

Hi everyone,
Got a Sony Full HD AVCHD Camcorder HDR-SR11 and thinking of buying a Hard Disk Drive DVD recorder.
I was looking at the various Sony HDD recorders. None of the recorders I've seen lets you transfer AVCHD content to the HDD. Only SD files can be transferred and stored on the HDD. I don't want to burn those AVCHD files to DVD (as I know you need BlueRay burner). But is there really no HDD recorder that simply lets me transfer, store and watch my AVCHD file from my Camcorder to my TV??? Of course it should be capable of doing the normal TV recording to DVD, Radio, USB, etc...

Does anyone know of a particulare model that does that?

Thanks a lot for your posts,
Thomas

Hello Thomas.

As yet, there are no recorders on the market that can do this.

You are limited to reducing to SD.

Re: Which HDD DVD recorder lets me store AVCH Files???

So, will it just convert the Full HD AVCHD content to Standard Definition content when hooking up and transferring to the HDD?

If yes, it would get stored as SD, and when playing it over the TV, does it upscale the content again? (Recorder has upscale funcionality)

Thanks,
Thomas

Re: Which HDD DVD recorder lets me store AVCH Files???

tv.s with hdmi already upscale so the SD recording is still SD from these recorders

all this talk of upscaling by a dvdr is all hype

SD is SD , simple as that

you can probably store the files onto a hdd until such time as the markets catch up and then you could burn to blu ray disks

in the meantime the 1070 and 1090 are SD recorders with big hard drives fitted

Yes it would be upscaled but not to HD.

There has been a great deal of basic lying about upscaling.

If you upscale SD material you end up with upscaled SD material... not HD

Re: Which HDD DVD recorder lets me store AVCH Files???

You CAN burn AVCHD files to normal DVD blanks, using various software. No need for a Blu Ray burner. You then just need a PS3 or a Blu Ray player to view them on any HD ready TV. No need to store them on a hard drive. I store AVCHD files either on DVD blanks or USB pen drives. They will play back in full HD, if that's how they were recorded. (No upscaling.)
No Sony hard drive recorders will play back HD files, so hard drive storage on them is not the issue.
