Sony RDR-HXD 710 "Locking up"

Hi -
Anyone out there got this machine?
I've had mine for a while now and it's developed a 'sticking' habit, where nothing happens when you press a remote/machine key and the only solution seems to be to switch off at the mains and restart.
I've noticed that if it's left alone the machine will suddenly carry out a command long after the button was pressed.
The problems seem to be with the tuner and TV viewing as so far the disc recording and operations seem ok.
It's particularly fond of locking up if the 'red' button services are used.
Has anyone had similar problems?
Do we know of any software updates? I've only received 1.

This is characteristic of corrupt EPG data clogging up buffers. usually introduced by an unreliable aerial signal.

Red button info takes a significant time to load.

Clean out the machine with a power reset. [ Disconnect for 10 minutes. ]

Many thanks Gavtech.
I have switched the machine power off and hopefully solved the problem.

Re: Sony RDR-HXD 710 "Locking up"

Same old problem seems to keep coming back.
Doesn't seem to matter if I've used the interactive or not.
I disconnect from mains and restart. All ok for a while, then back to not carrying out commands, then suddenly doing something etc.
Any ideas?
Is this something that can be fixed and is it worth doing?
Time to ditch?
