Problem playing DVD+RW on Sony RDR-HXD770

Hi, My DVD player/recorder was recommended to me so I bought it. It says that it can play DVD+RW and it does. However, whenever I erase/format/record on one of these DVD+RW for a second time, I always seem to get the message 'cannot play disc' on the machine. If I put it into my PC, it plays OK. This makes the purpose of a RW disc a waste of time. Can anyone suggest why its doing this ?
Thanks

Are you formatting the disc on the PC or the machine?

Re: Problem playing DVD+RW on Sony RDR-HXD770

Hi, the first time I used it (new DVD+RW), I burnt a tv show to the DVD using my PC software and it played on my DVD player. The second time I used it, my DVD burning software asked if I wanted to erase it before recording, I selected yes, then it burnt my next tv show (which now wont play).

I can only guess that the format now is different to when it was a blank (new) DVD+RW ???

Re: Problem playing DVD+RW on Sony RDR-HXD770

the problem here is that you are confusing formatting on the sony with formatting on the pc , you assume that as the word formatting is used they are both the same

they arent !!

nescafe coffee is not the same as maxwell house coffee and neither are the same as gold blend coffee !!! now maybe you get it ?

if you format and use dvdrw disks on the sony and only use the sony for reformatting you can use them over and over on the sony and nowhere else

if you use the pc for formatting then you can only use them on the pc , but they may play on the sony

so mark them accordingly as pc or sony and you will find you can re use them on the appropriate device

once they are formatted on the pc the sony will not re-use them
