Liteon DD A110 sound problems

We have recently moved to Australia and are now setting up our Liteon DVD recorder (it worked ok in England), we have everything set up and it plays DVD's, but it does not pick up any sound from the TV, we tried recording some TV and again on the playback there is no sound. Has anyone else had any problems with sound input, we don't think it is because we have moved to Aus, but maybe we need to set something up differently - any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

That is precisely the reason you have no sound on off-air broadcasts...Australia use a TV System called PAL B/G...in the UK we use PAL I...and the difference is the sound carrier spacing...I doubt very much whether a UK bought Liteon can be converted...your best bet is to get a separate Digital set-top box...I believe Australia has Digital TV similar to our UK system or a Satellite box and connect the video/audio outputs from that to the video/audio inputs of the DVDR and that should then work okay.

Thanks JayCee, we'll give that a go, we have bought a cheap set top box, so will wire it up through that and see what happens.

I am a bit surprised that the Lite-on does not have the possibility to switch from PAL I to B/G. The few DVD recorders I have come into contact with had this facility in the set up menus. Edit in my current machine its actually in the audio set up!

Another option if its not there is to use a cheap or even duff local VCR as a tuner for analogue reception.
