Bush DVR3004 "Locking" AV selection

Can anyone cast any light on this one?

Some friends got a Bush DVR3004 DVD recorder for Christmas and were having a few problems so, being the local AV "expert" I was summoned round to help.

To cut out a bit of the story we got a replacement unit and I hooked it up as follows:

TV Scart on Sky to AV1 on TV
VCR Scart on Sky to Scart In on recorder
Scart out on recorder to AV2 on TV

Antenna to RF in on recorder
RF out on recorder to RF in on Sky
RF out on Sky to RF in on TV.

This setup works fine, select "Scart Vid" on the recorder as the source and manual and timed recordings work a treat.

The problem occurs should you want to watch a terrestrial channel while recording a Sky channel. The TV refuses to change input sources and seems to be locked on AV2. If the recorder is switched off then the AV source switching works as expected.

Any ideas?

Ta!

Damn! Knew there was something I'd forgotton! I must be honest I'm not exactly sure of the model but it's a Daewoo brand CRT of indeterminate vintage if that helps.

It looks to be a fairly standard type, two AV inputs one of which supports S-Video

I will try to get more details tomorrow.

Hello JayCee,

Sorry, slight problem getting the model number of the TV at the mo, will post again when I have it.

One thought I did have was trying a Scart lead with the switching pin (8) disconnected.
