Sony SDP-S350 won't play BD-RE

Hey,

I've got a Sony SDP-S350 and I can't get it to play BD-RW 25GB discs (I've tried both a Sony and TDK branded BD-RW disc), it just says that it is unable to play the disc.

Disc is burnt in UDF2.5 in a BDMV style with a MPEG-4 AVC video stream and a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio stream, although I've tried other formats.

The disc plays back fine in PowerDVD 9 on the computer (Including the bluray's menu) and I've tried a number of different videos in bluray format with the same result.

According to sony I need to make sure the disc is correctly finalised but since when could you finialize any rewriteable disc (If I attempt to do so anyway, imgburn gives me: "Cannot write medium - incompatible format").

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Tom

What is the original file ? Is it from a camcorder, or something else?
( I guess you mean BD-RE, as per the title, not BD-RW, as there is no such thing as the latter.)
Some BD recordings from TV will only play on the machine - or the same make of machine ( and a few others ) they are burnt on, such as the new Panasonic BD recorder. Files from camcorders are usually fine though, and should play on any BD player or PS3.
If the original file is downloaded, then that's another matter !
You could try burning to a normal BD-R disc, and finalise that.
