Multiregion dvd recorder around £100 - any recommendations

Pretty much what the subject says. My DVD recorder died today after 5 years or so and I'm looking for something cheap to replace it. Needs to be capable of playing R1 and R2, able to support + and - discs. Might be nice to get something with HDMI and upsampling but I'm not fussed.

Any pointers people have would be appreciated as I've looked at the LG DRT389H but can't work out whether it's region free.

No it's very unlikely to be region free if you buy it new, but have a look at this thread - http://www.avforums.com/forums/dvd-b...mote-hack.html

Any thoughts on the LG RHT387 or SONY RDRHXD890 at about 130 or 200 respectively as it looks like £100 won't be on the cards (which is a shame as my cheapo yamada lasted me a good while)

the sony ones are pioneers and are excellent recorders and you can use a one for all to multi region them quite easily

only sony , pioneer and panasonic are considered to be any good , so I wouldnt touch lg etc myself

you can also look around at the sony hxd 770 , 790 , 870 , 890 and 995 as well , some are on places like e bay and not much more than say £120 approx

£100 goes a long way on ebay for getting a refurb or shop return with guarantee. Make sure you use your credit card through paypal and not your bank account or credit for extra protection. My mother got a lovely Sony 790 model on there with a 12 months guarantee for about £100. Works great.
