VOB files off sky+

Hi All,

New here and need some help if you can, seen similar threads but I've got a specific problem.

I've got a programme recorded from sky+ onto a DVD which I need to get onto my PC then copied to a handful of DVDs for friends that need to be playable in standard DVD players/recorders.

I'm baffled by the file types (and the sizes of the things, effing maHOOsive) so could do witha bit of an idiot's guide as to what to do. The files on the DVD are VBO files, but I've got the impression that they need to be converted to MPGs to copy to other DVDs, but then can I guarantee that they'll be playable in normal DVD players...????

As you can see, I'm not even making sense to myself so any advice would be really, REALLY gratefully received!

Welcome to the forum.

You do not need to concern yourself at all with the file types involved ... if you already have a playable DVD. You can just make straight clones of the disc... or ISO copies using a disc copy utility - which if you have Nero or similar you probably already have.

Otherwise - if working from raw files, one needs to use a proper disc authoring programme.
Only a relatively few cheap players can deal with naked video files such as mpeg.

To create a universally playable disc those MPEG2 files have to be structured into the standard structure of a DVD-Video... which is the function of the authoring application.
