As per the thread title, for the past 2 months my Sony RDR-HXD790 is turning itself on and playing back something from the HDD all by itself. It has done this about 2 or 3 times but I observed exactly what it did.

I always leave it plugged into the mains and in Standby mode.

First, it turns itself on from Standby mode and says Welcome on the front LED and the HDD light turns on.

Then it starts playing something from the HDD by using the Resume function and continues to play until I tell it to stop playing.

Before I pressed the Stop button (to stop playing the programme from the HDD); the Remote was on my coffee table and I didn't press any buttons on the remote or on the front panel of the recorder.

So what seems to be the problem here? Is it terminal or is it something I can fix at my end? It is still under guarantee for another 2 and a half years as I have bought a 3 year breakdown cover for it so taking it back for a replacement won't be a problem.

Is anyone else using another remote nearby ? They can occasionally cross over - going up and down the channels with my Sky HD remote control had an annoying habit of turning my Denon DVD player on, all too frequently.
