I am getting a LG 42PG6000 plasma tv for my bedroom this week and would quite like to get a dvd player to go with it.

I'm not really up to speed with recent dvd players and their performance (I am still using my old Wharfdale M5 in my living room), so would appreciate any advice you can give me.

I will be using it predominately for watching SD dvd movies, although I would like to be able to use it to watch avi files on dvd-/+rw occasionally. I won't be connecting it to any other audio equipment, just straight to the plasma.

As some of my discs come from the US, I would like to be able to make it region free, also it would need to be pleasing on the eye to keep the mrs happy (thats how I have managed to blag the LG plasma).

Budget is flexible within reason. I am purchasing the plasma from Richer Sounds, so if I could also pick up the dvd player from there it would be a bonus, but not really important.

Any help or advice you can give me, will be greatfully recieved.

***Edited to add: Having done a bit of reading on these forums, I see that you can now get players that let you watch DivX & Xvid files directly from a USB device, I have never heard of that before, but now being aware of it, I would definately want the player to include this functionality.***
