Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player DMP-BD30

I am using this player in conjuction with a Sony KDL-S40A12U LCD TV.

I can play most DVD's (Blu-ray and standard DVD's) However I have rented the dvd 'The Getaway' and apart from the 'Warner Brothers' logo (picture and sound), I cannot hear any soundtrack from the movie although I can see the film.

Can anyone cast any light on this vexacious problem? I am what one may call a 'newbie' in this field.

I would add that I only have one HDMI socket on the TV which is being used in conjuction with a Sky HD box, the Blu-ray player is connected to the TV using AV3 socket on the TV.

Your assistance is appreciated.

Thank you so much; the next question is (a) how do I download the given version and (b) how do I update the firmware version? Do load a CD into my Laptop and download the version on to a created directory on the hard drive, then upload the said directory on to CD, then load the same CD onto the Blu ray player - but how?

In appreciation

Smile Re: Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player DMP-BD30

Hi guys first post so bear with me I found this product PVREmpire.co.uk - Panasonic DMP-BD30 BluRay player £169.99 £169.99 on the internet. Now I have an old technics sch750 hifi which has 6 channel input, i am saving up for a new amp onkyo 606. Until I have the money would this blue ray player be the right one for me until I got the amp? So I would still receive 5.1 sound and would the onkyo be the right amp to do the decoding for true hd sound

I would go for the newer model (much better) the BD35 the 30 can't send TrueHD/DTS-MA over the Multi's anyway so best bet is get the 35 use optical for now for DD/DTS and when you've saved up enough for the Onkyo your good to go for HD audio bitstream.
Job done.

There is a saying "Engage brain before operating mouth" in this case substitute 'mouth' for 'hand' ;-)

I have down loaded and when David Attenborough program is finished I will carry out the update. Will let you know how I get on

I have cleaned the disc and it made no differance; I have also inserted another Blu ray disc (There Will Be Blood) and the picture and sound is perfect.

I contacted 'the rental company and they are to send a new disc. I am sorry to say the rental company dont' check the disc only for scratches. The rental company? 'I Love Film'.

Many thanks for all the help you have given, at least I have the latest firmware out of the excercise.

Best Wishes
Reg
