Even the region free BD's won't play? they should play on any player.
Have you tried DVD.

If region free BD's don't work also does that point to a faulty player?

Does it say what region it is on the machine (usually where all the connections are...?)

Also, it may be worth finding the 'factory reset' option from the menus, selecting that, then unplugging the machine & starting again.........A bit tenous, I know, but worth a try.

KF it seems, is probably spot on. Good Luck!

Sorry to revive this thread, but I've just encountered the same problem today.

Bought a used copy of "Cloverfield" off an Ebay seller and it arrived today. I put it in my PS3 and it just made loud whirring sounds and wouldn't load at all (I don't think it's a problem with my PS3 as all other discs I've tried are ok )

Seems to play ok in my Panasonic BD60, after a bit of whirring and clicking, but when I tried it in the BD35, I got the same "copyright violation" message. I did think that the disc was a copy?

I did notice that the disc was a bit brown coloured on the one edge of the playable side, which did concern me a bit.

I was just looking for a bit of advice before I contact the Ebay seller.

It might be a firmware issue -- check the levels on the player then on the Panasonic web site. If there's an update available apply it, you've got nothing to loose, because it it doesn't fix the BR playback issue or even totals the player send it back for a refund.

BTW, you are playing BR originals not backup copies, right? I have heard of players choking on re-writeable media.

Thanks. I have updated the firmware on the BD35 and it still won't play.

I have contacted the Ebay seller, no reply as yet.
