PIONEER LX-70A - Does it do HD formats over HDMI ?

Hi Guys...

Does the PIONEER BDP LX-70A (note the 'A') send the new HD codecs via bitstream over HDMI ?

For instance, if I connect my LX-70A to a DENON AVR-3808A via HDMI will I get DTS-MA etc etc ?

Yep.

So yes your get TrueHD/DTS-MA with the 3808.

On the LX70A, set HDMI output to 'Auto' - that's it

For video from my Pioneer LX70A to a Pioneer KRP-600A I set the:

LX70A to "SOURCE DIRECT" and switch the 24 FRAMES option "ON".

And set the KRP-600A to "PURE MODE" and "DOT-TO-DOT".

Is that right?

So just to confirm...

Yes.

Taken from page 40 of the LX70A user manual:-

Parameter = HDMI Audio Out
Setting = Auto

• Outputs a bitstream of Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD High
Resolution Audio or DTS. However, if the player is connected to an HDMI device that is
incompatible with the output of Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD High Resolution
Audio, it outputs the Dolby Digital or DTS bitstream. Depending on the HDMI device connected and the content being played, Linear PCM audio may be output. See About the audio output settings on page 42 for details
