old home cinema via blu ray player

Hi
I have a samsung HT- THX 35 R upscaling dvd player with home cinema. I was wondering if there is a blu ray player out there that I can use to replace the dvd player in the home cinema whilst being compatible with the home cinema?

Hi sameermisra.
Do you mean connect a BD player to the cinema system for surround sound? does the unit have Optical Input.
All the best.

Re: old home cinema via blu ray player

You won't be able to replace the drive... but if this is the device you have:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...30_TX35_GB.pdf

It suggests it has an optical input... (do check on the back!!) if this is the case, your best/cheapest option will be to add the Samsung BD-P1500 player to your existing system connect it voa HDMI to your TV and route the audio through the existing unit using the optical connector... this will give you great sound (max bitrate DTS!) and Blu Ray.

Re: old home cinema via blu ray player

thank you,

yes it does have optical input but the blu ray player is supposed to have 2.1 output; does it get converted to 5.1 if coming through my old home cinema system?

Optical would give you 5.1 digital surround sound.
Connect from player to your systems Input.
