Denon DVD-1800BD ή Pioneer BDP-51FD?

I am thinking to buy one of these 2 players. Could you please help me decide which is better or maybe suggest some other better player in this price range? Thank you!

Hi skylark.

Do you use an amp at all,any audio requirements or features your after? plenty of feedback on the 51 but very little on the 1800,might be a bit more here in the Denon forum though.

There has been very little said about the 1800. I have heard it is similar in p.q to the Denon 2500bt. However I haven't seen the 1800 myself so can't comment. Nice display by the way

No, I don't use anything, no amp, I use my tvs speakers. All I need is good Blue Ray picture quality.

So you think Denon is better than Pioneer 51?

Then go for the 51

good firmware support,lots of user feedback on the forum plus the player has some nice features/picture adjustments as well.

Yep,quite a few have posted saying the Denon has better PQ the only way for "you" to find out though is to compare both.
Personally,if i was thinking of either the 1800 or 51 Blu-ray PQ would be the last thing on my mind

because there both going to be excellent.

Comparison is not possible. I cannot even see them. I will order it by phone from Athens. No such players in the city I live.
So, both players are very good...
I still have to make s choice!

I reckon the 51 will be a great match to your screen

I suppose it comes down to how much you want to spend. The 1800 is over £100 more expensive than the 51 over here.

I am mulling over a home demo of the 2500bt tbh as I was dissapointed when I auditioned it at my local dealer's and feel a home demo is the only way I can be sure whether other factors were involved in what was a dissapointing picture. I am told the latest fw sorted out most of the disc issues too.
