Suggestions for DVD player to match Kuro??

I will be getting a Pioneer 50" screen soon and I will wait until the Oppo 83 BluRay/DVD player appears before deciding on my 'final' player.

In the meantime, I will want to pick up a reasonably cheap, secondhand DVD player (BluRay can wait!).

One of the benefits of the Kuro is that it has good processing. So, ideally, the player would send down a native signal (576i ????) like the 'Source Direct' mode on Pioneer's latest BluRay players.

I would want to use HDMI to connect!

Do most/any DVD players have this capability and, if so, any suggestions for a likely candidate? Would rather keep cost down to less than £100, preferably £50!!!!

I'd get one of the matching Pioneers, so you can use Kuro Link. I think all players around £50 from the big brands are much of a muchness really, and are only differentiated by things like USB and SD card slots etc.

Re: Suggestions for DVD player to match Kuro??

Hi
I'm using a Pioneer DV600 with my Kuro screen and its pretty good.
But I'm now looking at a DV-LX50 as my DVD source as I'm just 'borrowing' the DV600 from the kids.
Quite a bit more than you're looking to spend (LX-50) but the DV600 is within budget definitely.
Cheers

The Pioneer DV410 or DV610 would probably be decent choices.

The DV410 is about £68 & the DV610 about £107 , both from Superfi.

Actually got my DV410 from Costco yesterday.

Re: Suggestions for DVD player to match Kuro??

Should have said, as well, that 2-channel sound quality when playing DVD's is a top priority.

I will be using it mainly to watch music videos and will be connected to a VERY high quality amp/speaker combination (not the one listed below!)

So, in summary.....
  • HDMI
  • Outputs 576i/576p video signal
  • Great audio performance for DVD's (2-channel)
  • £50-£100 (second-hand)
Is this possible?
