Anyone changed a dv88's cover

Hi,

Has anybody changed the colour of a Dv88. I have read that Arcam can supply the fascias and covers.

I have one in silver and would like to change it to black...

Also how much were the replacement parts from Arcam?

Thanks

Lennyz

Hi,

The best thing to do would be to take it to your arcam dealer and ask them to do it, then if they damage it in any way it will not cost
you any more money.

But if you did it and scatched it lets say, you would have to buy the spares again, just a thought.

good luck.

Mines a special case.. I had my DV88 upgraded to a 88+ but the front panel still says DV88. So I was sending it back to Arcam for a new faceplate.. and I am enquiring as to how much extra it would cost to get its colour changed. Also my machines warranty expires quite soon.. I've had it since Aug 2001

Cheers

No sweat Matt. I just thought it might simplify it for us both.

I did email Arcam and ask about changing the fascia

Dear Paul,

I am afraid we do not offer that service and although it is something I can supply you with you would not be able to fit the front panel as most of the electronics are secured to the front.

So it sounds like a no.no anyway...unless anyone knows different?

Thats rubbish.. in the other thread one guy has had his DVD and AV8 converted from silver to Black.. and General Skanky got a quote for converting his 88+ before putting it up for sale.. and I have been quoted for having the rest of the unit changed over to silver after they replace my faceplate ??? It seems to depend on who you get to speak to .. though I have dealt wit Matt in the past. Maybe these sort of requests are quite new for them and a official process is not in place yet ? (I also know of another member who bought a spare cover for his DV88 -- cost about £20)

As to swapping players.. its not a problem so to speak.. but I am sure you wouldnot want one with hardly any warranty and it still saying DV88 on the rather than DV88+ (which I presume yours is)

Cheers

Wow, cheers Matt. I will look into this further then. I guess I should give them a ring, it definitely is worth it if the cover cost £20.

Mine is only a DV88 not a plus I wish. I may get an upgrade sometime but I need to be convinced I would see a big difference with the progressive on my MXE.

Thanks for your help all.
