Divx widescreen problem

I have LG-ht302sd home theater connect to samsung LCD 32", the problem is when I play divx videos in the home theater the video shows of a letterbox, no matter if I change the aspect ratio setting the picture still the same. But it works with DVD discs.

The videos that I'm trying to play is fine, I checked the on my PC, some are absolutely shows full widescreen without any corping or blackborders.

here is some.

Re: Divx widescreen problem

Hard to see in the pics cos they are dark, but I take it that you mean if you burn a divx movie to a CD-R or DVD-R and play it in the DVD player, you get the film with black bars top and bottom AND left and right?

If so, many players do this. My (relatively) expensive Sony DVD player does this, even tho it specifically states it is "DivX Compatible"

Which is one of the reasons I ended up putting a PC below the TV and playing my DivX films over the network instead....

Problem is, I can't get 5.1 sound quality on my PC, I can get it only from the home theater

Re: Divx widescreen problem

Well unfortunatly, unless the manufacturer releases a firmware update to solve the issue, there's nothing you can do...

As for surround sound from a PC - a cheap digital SPDIF sound card set up correctly will output multichannel audio, all you need is a digital input on the home theatre or AV amp...

Re: Divx widescreen problem

A DVD player with Divx plus or equivalent is what your after. My LG displays Divx content as widescreen.
