I haven't seen the 1060, but all other Rotel DVD players (985, 995, 1080) are based on JVC chassis. The 985 and 995 were awful for the money, and the 1080 wasn't much better (I used to have a 995 for some reason). In fact the Region 2 version of the players were simply Region 1 players with a multi region hack (and hence no SCART sockets). As the 1060 has SCART sockets this may not be the case with the new models, but I would still check out the 1060 very carefully before buying it.
