1080i or 1080p upscaling?

Im after a cheap dvd player to use with my new plasma tv. Tv is full hd and was wondering which is best to go for 1080i upscaling or 1080p. Seen a 1080p one in argos, dont know if its any good though. On a bit of a budget so cant afford anything to expensive just something to improve the picture a bit. So if anyone can recommend a player thet would be great.
