Folks,

I have an All4One remote which I am happy to distribute around forum members to make their S350/S550/S5000ES's DVD Region Free.

Edit 28/08/09:

I am trying to speed things up with this by removing myself from the equation as much as I can. Therefore can I suggest we proceed in the following manner:

There will be a list in one of the final posts of this thread. this will detail all people who currently have a remote, and all people currently waiting. If you want to be added to the list, just copy the list into a new post (You will have to Quote it, to retain the colour key!) and add your name to the bottom. In due time You will then be contacted via PM by someone above you on the list, asking for your address. You will supply them with this, be sent the remote and perform the hack. Once this is done, you will refer to the list, remove the person who sent you the remote from the list, find and PM the next person to be sent the remote, PM them, update the list, and send the remote out. Please do not remove yourself from the list when sent out, wait for the recipient to do it. This should reduce unnecessary threads with small updates. Please ensure the html code for the coloured names remains (by quoting), as this is done to keep track of individual remotes.

If no-one else requires the remotes after you, we will make arrangements to begin returning them to their owners.

I will still update the list below when I can, but this is no longer canon. Please refer to the list towards the end of this thread.

If you borrow the remote, please be considerate to other lenders, don't hog it, and don't cover it in tuna paste or anything.

Edit: C225 has been kind enough to throw his remote into the mix too... This should get things moving a little quicker.

Edit 2: Please ensure that when you have finished with a remote, you PM the next person on the list for their details. any posts in this thread requesting them are likely to get missed, and may delay the process. As the list is growing so much, If there is no response within a couple of days, drop me a PM and we'll work something out to keep the ball rolling.

Scotty has passed on to me the following confirmed working instructions (I have been advised that this is the same for the 550 and 5000ES).

Programming the 7040 OneforAll remote to enable region free playback of DVD’s on the Sony BDP-S350
Quote:
1. Press DVD
2. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
3. Press 0533

4. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
5. Press 994
6. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
7. Press 1891 (this sets key 1 – the DVD button flashes twice)

8. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
9. Press 994
10. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
11. Press 2552 (this sets key 2 – the DVD button flashes twice)

12. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
13. Press 994
14. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
15. Press 0953 (this sets key 3 – the DVD button flashes twice)

16. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
17. Press 994
18. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
19. Press 2214 (this sets key 4 – the DVD button flashes twice)

20. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. .
21. Press 994
22. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
23. Press 0795 (this sets key 5 – the DVD button flashes twice)
Done - the remote is now programmed and ready to use

Quote:
1. Now to make your player region free use the Sony remote that came with the player to bring it out of standby and wait while HOME is displayed
2. Make sure there isn't a disc in the machine.
3. Now on the OneforAll remote press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (The blue 24p light on the player will start flashing)
4. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote
5. That’s it, the next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback
If the blue 24p light doesn’t flash then it hasn’t worked, try a new set of batteries and start a fresh

Remote received this morning and had to play about to identify the right number of keys to use but it’s now pre-programmed so hard bit done
I’ll put a copy of the amended instructions in with the remote just in case it ever needs re-programming.

I've just managed to make my S350 region-free using a combination of an IR program for my N95 and the Pronto codes elsewhere on these forums. As such, you can remove my name from the list now. Thanks anyway!

AAAARRRRGGGHHH!! Help needed

I have tried now god knows how many times to do this and still cant get it to work so a couple of questions (and I have programmed the remote about 4 times now to make sure that it is not the remote - I am 100% sure the remote is programmed as per the instructions)

1. At what point do you use the code on the sony. When you boot it out of standby it goes through the welcome, load, wait and then home sequences. Do you wait for it to reach home? (I have tried all )

2. Can you have the player connected to a screen or do you have to disconnect?

3. Do you have to press any other button on the one for all remote before entering the 1,2,3,4,5 sequence or do you just press these buttons only?

With everything connected as normal, bring the player out of standby with the Sony remote.

Wait until the player is displaying HOME

Then on the OneforAll press the buttons 1,2,3,4,5

The blue 24p light should then start to flash

When its flashing put it back into standby with the Sony remote

If the blue 24p light doesn't flash then i suspect that the remote isn't configured correctly

I will try again although I have programmed the remote a few times as per the instructions to make sure that this isn't the problem. If I cant sort it today I will post the remote onto Poison Jam as I don't want to hold everyone up and then perhaps join the back of the queue

Put brand new batteries in the remote - just on the off chance - and it worked immediately so future users make sure you use decent batteries, preferably new ones, as the ones I initially used are still fine for 'normal operation'

Anyway......panic over and I will now post on to posionJam today

For the benefit of anybody interested, here's what I did:

- Downloaded the trial version of Psiloc irRemote and installed it on the N95.
- Uploaded the Pronto CCF file to the Psiloc website and assigned the required 1,2,3,4,5 buttons to anything available (I went for angle, audio, down and so on)
- Loaded up the software on the N95, connected it to the net and downloaded the remote control codes I'd just uploaded.
- Switched on the S350 and pressed the buttons on the N95 in order. The 24p light started flashing on my first attempt so I knew I'd done it right.
- Rebooted the S350, stuck in an R1 disc and Bob's your uncle.
