Line Doublers, Prov Iscan

Has anyone got advice re what to do re Progressive scan, I have a Sony CX850 DVD no Component output but 200 DVD storage the latest Sony Multichanger not repleased in UK with 300 DVD storage does NTSC progressive but not PAL, its un likely Sony will release a new Multichanger over here Should I

1. Buy a Philips 963 and a infrared component switcher so I can keep my Sony Multichanger(with a scart tocomponent convertor) and get progreesive throught the Philips

2. buy a iscan or prov line doubler, are these any good

3. Purchase a different DVD with PAL & NTSC Prog scan

4. Do nothing

thanks

Well,

Do you like your Sony DVD?

What is your display and can it accept a progressively scanned signal?

If the answer to A and B is Yes then an Iscan could be a great solution (presuming the Sony DVD has s-video out)

If the answer to B is No then get a new display
If the answer to A is No then get a new DVD player

Also remember that an off board video processor will make all external sources better, not just your DVD.

Or you get the excellent JS Tech RGB2YUV converter from http://www.rgbtosvideo.com/

This is because the iScan Ultra does not accept RGB inputs; but does accept component (YUV), s-video, composite with two of each.

The ProV is a pretty poor de-interlacer, so I woudn't bother with one.

Stoo: For some reason I thought it was a US only DVD player and that it wouldn't have RGB out for conversion....doh!
