Angry No NTSC Signal

I Recently purchased a Sony DAV -S500 Multiregion DVD Home Cinema system and i must admit it is fantastic.
I have a AV Room (Well it`s actually a converted Shed,Soundproofed) in here i have a Philips 32PW6332 tv rigged up to the Sony DAV, I bought a region 1 DVD yesterday to watch but i only get sound and no picture, i dont think the philips decodes the NTSC signal.
I then connected the DAV to my TV in the House (Sony 32LS35)
and guess what ...... Same thing happened,Sound but no Picture.
if anybody can help with my plight, please let me know.
the DAV was connected to both TV`s via a composite lead,i even tried a S-Video lead but that gave only a Black & White picture in region 2 but still no Region 1 Picture,
Would a NTSC to PAL converter work?

Cheers..............

This is really in the wrong forum, but Go into the stup menu of your DVD player and check the the output is set to NTSC or Quasi Pal. That should sort it.

You have to set the DAV to output the right signal in its menus. If you have it connected via composite, then make sure the DVD player is set to output composite.

S-Video would be a better option than composite anyway. As well as plugging the cable into the S-Video capable scart or S-Video socket, you need to turn on S-Video for that socket in the TV's menus.

I'm not familiar with your Philips set but unless it's a really old set, it should be NTSC-capable. The Sony LS35 is definitely NTSC-capable.

I Got a Picture

Many thanks for all the help.
the philips TV was not NTSC Compatible so i got a NTSC/PAL Converter (www.maplin.co.uk) for £49.
it turned out that the DAV had to be set to Interlace in the menus for it to show the region 1`s on the TV.
Once again Cheers for the help

I Get a Great Picture from the converter.. £50 is a little expensive for something so small as it comes with basic phono leads so i had to spend more money to get better quality composites.......
