Denon DVD-1940 from S&V?

Anyone had any experience with these fellas?

I've ordered my black DVD-1940 from them and although it says in stock on their website, they're stating that silver has only just got back into stock and that the black one is another week away.

Are their estimates any good or just rubbish? I was kind of annoyed that I had to pay a premium hike for black (silver £150, black £180) but now I'm concerned I may never see one anyway.

I HATE waiting for stuff.

Hopefully JL will be a bit better when I order my TH-42PZ80...

hi there ,,
a friend of mine has this denon 1940 dvd .....looks nice .............................................but the layer change is not seamless as it should be ....i believe it has a 2mb buffer to prevent noticeable change.... me i would go for something better ... i went for pioneer dv600 found it better than most and you can upgrade firmware too .....if u have the know-how u can put ur own logo or pic onto the player instead of pioneer logo u could have this http://www.demo-world.eu/logos/ instead ....ps if u pricematch u may be able to get dvd player cheaper i did

Re: Denon DVD-1940 from S&V?

i don't want to buy an expensive machine (i'm used to layer-change transitions from my old pioneer dv-717 anyway) as there's no point with the advent of HD sources, i just need a reasonable cheap player and the denon gets good reviews and would look rather nice sat with my Denon AVR-3806 amp.

hmm, something to think about though...

Just ordered the Pioneer DV-600AV-K from Play.com for £110 delivered and it's been shipped so should be here Monday hopefully.

Looks like PioneerFAQ seems to be the place to go to multi-region it and mess about with firmware

I have a black 1940 and I think it's great. The layer change isn't seemless, but it's the only niggle on an otherwise excellent player.
