Hi,

I was wondering which DSP processor and DACs this player uses for multichannel analog audio. The spec description doesn't mention- anyone know ?

It uses the audio dsp in the Zoran Vaddis 888 - a very high performance 32 bit processor, with a custom bass manager, coupled to Wolfson WM8740 DACs.

is the same true of the DV139 ? and for any other Arcam DVD players ?

Yes all our DVD players use the same basic platform.

OK John. So whether the DV137 or DV139 DVD player, the multichannel analog sound quality for movies should be identical ?

And do they do multichannel SACD ?

The DV139 ultimately sounds even better than the 137 because the support given to the key electronics, in terms of power supplies, cabinet quality and so on is better (and more expensive). However the 137 is still pretty good

Both models support multi-channel SACD and DVD-Audio, through their analogue outputs, with proper bass management. You can also access these signals (without the BM, iirc) as PCM over HDMI.
