| Re: 3 dvd players
All players produce heat, though some less than others. Some run cool enough that they don't need vents, but use the case as a heat sink to dissipate heat. Some don't provide adequate cooling with the result that they virtually cook the disc, and without optimal ventilation, can become quirky in some conditions. Manufacturers usually recommend minimum spacing around player to provide adequate convection cooling, or enough room for fan exhaust when forced cooling is used. High def players tend to have greater thermal energy output, so most have fans to provide forced cooling. Spacing other than at the rear, is less important for these. Stray magnetic fields from adjacent players can affect operation and performance, so spacing can help here. If you use more than one player simultaneously, vibration can cause problems, so again, isolation with feet such as the half squash balls mentioned, can help. Having said all this, I run stacked items with minimal spacing and have no problems.
