Pioneer 757ai / 747ai vs Yamaha 2300 / 830

Hello Guys,

Not sure who has read the DVD Progressive Scan Database over at hometheaterhifi.com but the on the video side the Yamaha 2300 came out way on top compared to the 747ai.

My question is does anyone know two things.

1 - Does the Yamaha 830 have the same Video chipsets as the 2300.

2 - Have Pioneer changed or updated the 757ai Video chipsets from the 747ai.

I currently have a Y-830 running into the Yamaha AZ2 with some Kef speakers. Running Scart RGB into a Loewe and I must say the picture is brilliant and DVD-A sounds great.

Thing is the Pioneer 757ai on paper seems to be better.
Got 108/12 bit Video DAC and some new audio DAC's. Not to mention SACD ability. That and it looks like the 757ai might be getting PAL Prog as well soon.

Anyone done or seen anything that can help me decide weather to turf the Y-830 for the P-757ai ???

Thanks

The 757Ai does have a new chip set for higher picture quality and Pioneer is expected to confirm a firmware upgrade for PAL PS. In my opinion even in interlaced mode the 757 is by far one of the very best around. You will find a few people telling you that it is hard to see the difference on the 757's interlaced mode against machines with PAL PS.

By a firmware upgrade, does that meanI can buy a 757Ai now and get pal prog later (by means of a downloaded file burnt onto CD?).
