DVP5980 - USB filenames

Hey,

I understand that the USB filenames can only be 6 (or is it 8) characters.

But, when i load up the usb stick, the filenames are displayed on the TV randomly.

i.e 6 files (fil01.avi to fil06.avi)

displayed as fil06 > fil03> fil02 etc....

Any idea why?

I'm loading from a linux box to USB stick - though i can't see if that would make any difference....

Hiya,

The files display in the order that they were last modified (or even copied to the device!).
If you copy them back to another device and then copy them back again in sequential order they should display correctly.
Annoying and weird but it works

In Windows you can use a program called foldersort to order them correctly it even does subfolders:-
http://www.jetman.dircon.co.uk/software/foldersort.html
Saves any resaving.

Excellent!

Thanks very much.

A linux version could be good..... hmm i shall look, but if i can't find one i guess i could write a script to touch the files with incremental timestamp.....

woohoo... think i've found myself a little project!
