Help needed - which Xvid/USB DVD Player?

Hi,

I'm struggling to find a DVD Player that meets my needs, so I've had to compromise, and I think I've narrowed it to these two:

Pioneer DV-400V-S
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...V-S/index.html

Philips DVP5980
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-DVP5...dp/B000Q7ZCO6/

Are these good choices?

My ideal was:
Plays DVD
Divx/Xvid
Scart Interface
USB input (Preferably 2.0?)
Hard Disk (Preferred)
Wireless (Not essential)
Ethernet (Not essential)

Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Floob.

Re: Help needed - which Xvid/USB DVD Player?

seen some good reviews on both, a simple remote hack for the Philips makes it region free, which would tip the balance for me.

thinking about this one myself, but would love to hear from others that may have it or suggest alternatives.

Re: Help needed - which Xvid/USB DVD Player?

i've got the phillips.had it about 12 months with no probs at all.got it mainly for divx playback which i burn on my pc and it plays everything.it has the usb which i didn't realise at the time of buying how usefull it is,i have an external hard drive which plugs straight in cutting out the need for disks, the player then reads off the hard drive allowing music and video playback.my tv isnt 1080 so i havent really used the upscaling feature but i think it does 480,720 and 1080.for the money you cant beat it,throw in a hdmi lead(which comet were charging more for than the player) and its a great player.any questions i will try to answer them but im not very tech friendlyhope this helps, mick.
