any advantage in having a sony dvd player with sony tv?

Hi guys,

I am looking for a dvd player that will play my divx collection and upscale my dvds on my sony 26T3000 (1080i/720p)

I hesitate between the philips 5960 and the sony NS78.
The philips seems perfect as it upscales up to 1080i which is the limit for the TV.
The sony is a bit too much but I was wondering if it would be better to have both a sony dvd and TV. I read about sony bravia theatre...
Would it make anything better or should i go for the cheaper philips?

Thanks a lot.
