I have a Pioneer DV-600AV-k player and I'm trying to play a 1280x720p file via HDMI cable to a Samsung TV that is supposed to support that resolution. I'm getting an error message 'the video resolution of this file is not supported'. I'm a total idiot with this stuff ...if someone could give me a pointer as to what the issue is likely to be I would be extremely grateful. The file is in .wmv format. TIA

1280x720p is a HD resolution - the DV-600AV is a SD (Standard Definition) player and witll not play High Definition files I believe.

As you are aware the DV-600 will upscale SD sources to 720p, it is just that it will not cope with native HD resolutions themselves.

having slept on this I've 1 more question if anyone can help continue my education.
1. Why does my standard DVD player in my PC display the file OK to my PC monitor, albeit at a lower defintion, whereas the Pioneer won't default to a lower definition?
