Quality Upscaler for PJ viewing

Hi Guys

Can anyone recommend a top quality upscaling DVD player for use with a PJ.

My budget will be between £250 and £500.I really need it to be an excellent on board chip as the picture will be displayed on a 92" diagonal screen where artifacts, jaggies, blocking are far more obvious.

I am not fussed with the manufacturer.

Thanks

Doc

Re: Quality Upscaler for PJ viewing

Is your intended PJ going to be 1080p or 720p as that could make a difference to the machine you want to get.

Re: Quality Upscaler for PJ viewing

Do you believe that the scaler inside your projector is likely to do a worse job than one you might find inside a DVD player?

Re: Quality Upscaler for PJ viewing

Mmmmm I have been thinking about that actually.

I am going for the Panny 2000 and I suspect that will have a good scaler inside it.If thats the case am I best sticking with my EP30 and outputting SD at 576P or is it still best to get a good quality player rom Denon et al??

Thanks

Re: Quality Upscaler for PJ viewing

im going for the panny ae2000 aswell. apparently looks amzing with hd but average sd. i was also going to get a onkyo 805 or the onkyo 875 as this has decent upscaler. and then i will also need a blu ray player and was thinking about the panasonic bmp-bd30. but in fact i might get a ps3 as this apparently upscales dvds better than most stand alone players and also has a very good blu ray player. as the ps3 upscales well i might save my self £200 and get the 805 as i wont need the upscaler.

any 1 else comment on how well the ps3 upscales compared to stand alone?

p.s sorry for hijack
