Worth buying upscaling DVD player for 32 inch HD Ready TV?

I have a Hitachi 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV and an Arcam DV79 DVD player. Will I notice any improvement in picture quality if I buy a good upscaling DVD player?

My TV can only handle upscaling to 1080i and my DV 79 cannot upscale.

Depending on the cash you want to spend, you should notice a difference. I have an Oppo 981. It cost £180. I thought it would be worth spending this kind of money cause of the great reviews it got on here and other sites.

I've also got a 32inch HDTV (Sony) and the picture quality is pretty darn good once it's setup right. I play all my movies at 720p and the likes of: Monsters Inc and King Kong look great on it.

I'm sure others on here would say get the Oppo and also Denon seem to be popular on here as well.

in a word yes. But and this is a big BUT most of the HD players also do a good job of upscaling. So why not wait abit.

Re: Worth buying upscaling DVD player for 32 inch HD Ready TV?

Well i am going to disagree with the last 2 posters and say NO,you will not notice any improvement.
I am basing this on the DVD player you are currently using, and the tv you are using it with...which you intend to keep, because you never said otherwise.

You can better the DV79,although you will need to be prepared to spend a significant amount of money to do so,but unless you also change your tv,then i think you will be wasting your money.

You already have a superb DVD(and CD)player in the Arcam DV79,and the fact that it cannot upscale does not matter, because your tv does this anyway.
So as long as your DV79 is in perfect working order,i would stick with it,at least until you are upgrading your tv.
