Arcam DV27 replacement

Is it likely that in the near future that the FMJ DV27 is going to be replaced, aka the DV88+ to DV89?

I believe that certain parts of the current model has been replaced to allow easier upgrades to DVD-A (from reading other threads), but is this only an interim measure?

regards
John

as far as I know they have gone from the vaddis 3 chipset to the vaddis 5 just like the dv88+. In the same way this will then allow the DV27+/DV88+ to be upgraded to DVD-A when it ships.

From that point on I would expect all new DV27+/DV88+ to include the DVD-A board and hence it will probably be called something like the DV28 ?? (as the DV88 -> DV89)

DV88+ and DV89 are two different models. It is possible to upgrade DV88+ to DV89. They will continue ion product line up like this. DV89 has DVD-Audio capability as well as all DV88+ features.

I guess they are going to do same thing for DV27. Whether they do two models like the DV88/9 I don't know. I do believe they are showing them at Bristol so there will be an answer by weekend if not before

"we will be producing a DVD-A compatible version of the DV27, imaginatively called the DV27A, in the near future. This has a 6 channel DVD-A output on it which also features DD and DTS surround decoding. The bass and speaker delay management is intended to be applicable to all formats, including DVD-A. Existing Arcam DVD players can be upgraded to include this support - we'll announce the precise details in due course. "
