DVD Multichangers in Europe

I am looking to purchase either a new or a second hand Sony DVD Multichanger - one of the ones which has 300 or 400 discs and pref is multiregion with PAL and NTSC (or failing that I could always buy an adaptor afterwards).

These seem to be impossible to buy in the UK - does anyone have any ideas?

Much appreciated.

Re: DVD Multichangers in Europe

Import one from the US, I did, bought it already modded for region free NTSC and PAL output with progressive scan. Always check the details of the mod carefully as they are not all the same and don't always have PAL progessive scan. You will also need a voltage converter approx £10 from Maplin.

I have a Sony 400 disc DVP-CX777ES, now if I could only remember where I bought it.
There was somewhere selling it in the UK already imported and modded eurodigitalplus but either their web site is down or they have closed up.

Unfortunately you will be limited to component as your best connection. For reasons I was never able to totally pin down none of the newer HDMI eqiuped ones have multiregion mods. I suspect this is more and issue with the scalers and other electronics associated with the HDMI being only set up with the expectation of NTSC source discs making any PAL mod prohibitvely difficult.

Anyway as you can see from my kit list mine is hooked up to Sony SXRD rptv and it is brilliant. The only criticism I would make is that searching for a disk via the players own internal folder system is frustratingly slow as it only shows 5 at a time and is not quick. But is is nothing a list can't solve, I have mine indexed in a spreadsheet and I hope if I can ever figure out how to have it auto catlogued and controled from my pc via it's rs232 control port eventually using my movies software.
