SA CD & DVD A + Pioneer DV600

I need to buy a new DVD player and was looking to buy one that can also play SA CD and DVD A’s.

I have my eye on the pioneer dv600 and popped into richer today to see if the DVD600 was connected to my Cambridge A1 amp on the av channel that my amp would pick up and be playing either the SA layer of the audio cd or the 96kHz 24-bit stereo mixes of the DVDA. The guy at richer said yes but was not 100% convincing that it did (i.e. he had to check).

Before I shell out can someone confirm for me if this set up will work as I’m a complete newbie, I think having looked at some of the previous posts, it appears the only way I could hear the SA CD would be on the HDMI output of the DV600? (due to copy protection) and my Cambridge amp does not have HDMI I assume I'm sunk.

I asked at richer after an AV amp for 5:1 and general audio CD use and he suggested the Cambridge Audio AZUR 540R V2 on the basis of their audio pedigree, can someone comment on this or let me know if there is a better option for the same price? perhaps the Sony STRDA120 which does have HDMI?

One last question is in terms of speakers for 5:1, the guy at richer suggested that I could use my existing KEF Cresta 2 book shelf speakers as front left and right and just buy additional centre, sub woofer and rear speakers, my only concern on that front would be that if they were different makes then it might result in an unbalanced sound? Can anyone comment? As an alternative, the guy at richer (as I’m on reduced budget if I go ahead with this) did suggest the tannoy FX5:1 package, can anyone comment on these for general 5:1 audio CD usage?

Sorry if it’s a lot of questions but I’m really out of my depth on this sort of stuff and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
