Hi all

I'm driving a 'buy an upscale DVD player' truck and it's pretty out of control. So for my first post I'm asking you folk to steer it in the right direction...

Budget is up to £1000...options are:

- Denon-3930 - seen lots of positive reviews

- Marantz DV7001 - again - lots of good chat about this

- Arcam DV137 - seems to be revered. The DV139 seems to be worshiped more but my budget won't stretch

- Sony RDR-HXD970 - bit out of leftfield this one - but went to a local hifi/home cinema shop and the manager swore by this and says he owns one himself - said it was a stunning picture


My priority is getting the most out of my beloved DVD collection. Priority is not to play CDs.

I have the Sony 52" X Series Bravia, and plan to surround myself with the Kef KHT3005SE. Not decided the receiver yet.

Have a look at the Yamaha's too.

I have got a DVD-S1700 - brilliant picture and sound. Can be picked up for £250 ish on the net.
They also do a more upmarket model, the DVD-S2700 at £900, but you can probably find it discounted.
