Problem with Coaxial cable

I'm using a coaxial cable that someone gave to me recently - it was just a temporary solution until I get a decent one to see if I liked it or not.

Anyway I've noticed a problem with it. When I watch a Dolby Digital track, the amp doesn't recognise that it is DD and switches to stereo (Marantz 4200). I can then change this to PL/2 or any of the dsp settings which is something I couldn't do with my optical cable.

Is there a way round this or is it normal?

I've tried 2 coaxial cables (I got the same cable with my sound card a while ago) and 2 coaxial inputs on my amp so it isnt a hardware fault. The cable does work with a DTS signal and the amp recognises it as DTS immediately

Thanks

Is this in the wrong forum btw? I wasn't sure...

Never mind - fixed it now.

I suddenly thought of looking in the DVD setup menu. I changed the output to bitstream MPEG and it works now
