OPPO DVD advice

I have Pioneer 436 (SXE I think) with one HDMI input (and 1080i not 1080p), which is taken by Sky HD. My current rubbish DVD player(some Toshiba which was about £50) goes through component and through amp for sound. I have reasonable collection of DVDs which I actually watch frequently and not planning to replace with HD or Blue ray titles. I also have few american DVDs which my current player can not play. So I need a good DVD player.

Oppo 981 HD comes as a first choice but doesnt have component out, does it? I think I will have to use HDMI for this and that means Sky HD goes component and that means Amp to switch on everytime you want TV. With small child who watches 60-90 min programme, it is a bit of hassle. i.e I would be reluctant to use Sky needing amp every time.

Should I go for other Oppo DVDs-980/ 970 etc or 981HD?
HDMI switcher? Or New amp with all HDMI into the amp?

I am grey with all the choices. Some wise advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: OPPO DVD advice

I own an OPPO 981. As far as I'm concerned, the OPPO 981 is the ONLY way to go!!!

Re: OPPO DVD advice

im told these hdmi switchers are around 30 quid. seems a small price to pay for what could be years of hassle free entertainment.

altho im not sure how good they are. presumably the signal is lossless as its all digital right?
