Cambridge Audio DVD89 Problem, help!

My CA DVD89 has been to the service twice this year for the same problem, not reading disks. Service guy told me he put a new loader in it and it played fine in his service centre. Took it home yesterday straight after the service, connected it to my Panasonic plasma via HDMI and hd-load appears on the front display and it reads nothing! I tried unplugging it for an hour and connected it by scart to the tv to see if it would play and it made no difference. Before I trek back to the service does anyone have any suggestions for me as I am ready to bin it! I tried every kind of disk and it whirls for one second when the disk is put in and then displays 0 disk. I am losing my patience with this machine and wrote to Cambridge audio yesterday too but got no reply from them yet. Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated. Ronan

Re: Cambridge Audio DVD89 Problem, help!

Hello

Not sure if this will help but this is the problem I had (have). I bought a 540D v2 recently and found that some discs would just sit there (I moaned about this on another thread). To be fair though when I considered the discs, they were homemade discs (on DVD-R 16x). I was ready to return the unit when I found that with a problem disc if I pressed the title menu button on the remote the dvd menu would appear on screen and then all worked fine. I do not recall having this problem with pre-recorded discs. I have decided to keep the machine as am very pleased with sound and picture and this issue is not a problem to me.

Anyway sorry to hear of your problems and hope you get a solution if this is no use to you.
