Oppo 981 or Pioneer Dv600?

Actually I'm a little bit more confused than that! So many model numbers to contend with!

So am I right in saying tht the Pioneer DV 600 is better than the Pioneer DV696? People say the Oppo 981 is better than the 696 which is where I get confused.

So which is better between the Oppo981 and the Pioneer DV600? From the tone of the posts, it seems the Oppo just edges it, but I really can't be sure as the Pioneer is the far newer system right (I know newer doesnt mean better but you see my point)

Any help on this guys would be much appreciated.

I've owned the OPPO 981 since June 2007.
It beats anything I've seen and in some cases matches Blue Ray.
It also plays SACD compact discs.
