Arcam DV88 with Composite connection?

Today i was given, much to my suprise, my father's old Arcam DV88 DVD player (As he's upgrading newer and better things). At the moment i'm having to connect it by Scart to my Samsung LE32R87 but i was wondering if i could use component cable with it? It seems like their is space for the component video cable to go into the player but i'm not too sure about the audio. I also have no idea what cable that i'd need to buy (I'll be willing to spend up to £60 on the cable).

One more quick question, can i use the DV88 as an amplifier? I have no instruction manual with it so i'm totally stumpted! I'm in the process of buying a new Hi-fi system so saving on the amp would be a big plus!

Any help on any of these issues would be MUCH appreciated.

Cheers,

Quantum Sheep.

The DV88 is very nice DVD player it is not an ampifier and RGB scart (make sure player is set to RGB) will give a very nice picture, component may offer an improvement and in order to use this you need a 3 RCA component cable and a 2 RCA for stereo audio for the sound.

Could you recommend me any decent component cable brands?
