Player for animation analysis

I am looking for a dvd player that has really great controls for going through animation frame by frame.

Most DVD players simply have a slow motion button, or advance one frame by pressing the pause button repeatly.

I would like to find a DVD player that could advance through frames by turning a dial, or something to that effect.

It can get very frustrating trying to analyze animation when you can only skip forward 1 frame at a time and cannot go back easily.

Even if anyone can suggest a DVD player that has a very good user interface I would be happy to check it out.

Thanks

DVD isn't great for this, actually. I think you'll find that the features you're looking for are only available on higher-end players. I think that some of the higher-end, pricier players buffer the video so you can go back frames quickly, and not just forward.

you might be better off doing this on a pc. perhaps some editing software will let you see the frames you want

Yes, VirtualDubMod can read MPEG-2 directly and would be ideal for this. Sadly though there's legal implications with actually *getting* the file into VirtualDubMod so I can't say any more on this forum.
