Dvd player requires service..possible problem

Hello anyone reading,

My dvd player which I have had for several years is on the blink, it won't read any discs.

I plan to take it in and get it serviced, but I am nervous about doing this because my player does not have macrovision and I am worried that the services might require it be put in and so forth, which would ruin the player for me as I use it for editing movie clips.

I can't find any information on where the macrovsion is located in a dvd player, does anyone know, regardless of what servicing work the player might require, if this should present a problem with any service dealer? Thanks for any replies.
